Here are some of my projects, primarily large format print work. My career began as a designer for a daily newspaper. Taking an interest in the printing side, I took a position with a Tokyo-based high-end book printer in New York City. This led to a decade-plus career in the publishing industry, producing, among others, adult trade books. With print, branding, and flash as my foundational strengths, I then shifted to retail signage. In my current position at Georgia Tech, I handle large format printing as well as marketing collateral such as event installations, promotional premiums, traditional print, and plenty of 'swag' merchandise.
The Atrium remodeling project started in 2023. The original design was completed in 2005 so the technology of the monitors and the sound boarding around the walls was outdated for quality, color and functionality. Our vision for the project was to amplify the voice of global learning at Georgia Tech.
The space surrounds an interactive classroom. The wall material needed to be soundproof as well as aesthetically on brand. Installing a backlit sign required working across teams to move a power outlet, and position the sign for optimal sizing within the space. Lastly, our team needed to coordinate across different vendors for the wall panels, the material covering the panels and the backlit sign.
The primary material is Xorel selection: Carnegie Xorel Meteor. The logo is reverse-lit channel using white static LED illumination, gold over acrylic 9' x 24.44" installed on an outside convex with 1" spacers and 1/8" threaded studs.
Selecting the panel material involved two rounds, followed by three rounds of color testing. For the back lit sign we reviewed several different metal and acrylic samples. We then created two different prototypes for size and position.
The end result is a huge success due to teamwork, coordinating with internal departments and outside vendors. Our team submitted several design concepts and felt this best showcased the voice and tone of both GT and the Global Learning Center
This was all done with vinyl over vinyl. The back wall is six sections with custom cut vinyl on the center and floor for the spotlight effect. Separate weeded vinyl sections applied to the window as well as lettering.
